Councillor Lorelei Nicoll

HRM recently issued a tender for detailed design work on the Forest Hill Parkway.  This is part of a multi-year street rehabilitation project that includes both Forest Hills Parkway and Cumberland Drive. The goal would be to provide safer and more comfortable conditions for walking and bicycling, enhanced transit facilities and improved pedestrian friendly intersections.  Public consultation was part of this planning process and helped to inform conceptual design aspects of the project.  If approved by Council in the 2019/2020 Capital Budget, the project would start next year.  To ensure this segment of road remains safe and passable, Road Operations will continue to provide pothole patching for the remainder of the winter.  This May/June asphalt spreader patching will be completed on the Forest Hills Parkway from Main Street to Cole Harbour Road.  This will temporarily repair this segment of the road until a full street recapitalization can be done in 2019/2020.
